Cross Country—Fall
The Geneva school cross country program strives to offer a training regimen for the experienced runner as well as the beginner. It focuses on building endurance in the early season with a heavy emphasis on strength and flexibility to support the increasing demands of running on the body. Speed work and race strategy are integrated as the athlete progresses.
The goal of the program is to cultivate within each athlete confidence, a desire to pursue excellence, and a greater understanding of how to glorify God through running. Because there is a large mental component in running, coaches care about the entire well-being of the athletes and not just their performance. A team atmosphere is cultivated where athletes of all levels encourage and support one another. There is also an intentional focus on encouraging the older students to mentor the younger students.
